Spoiling Food Addon
Spoiling Food! Yes, this makes the game harder, definitely. Though manageable. If you're particularly adventurous, just go in blind! There's a lot of new stuff to discover and a lot of new mechanics to play with.
Dependencies
- Requires the Metadata Extension Addon!
Features
Also all features have a train of thought behind them, no random stuff (mostly). Here's a quick rundown of the most important features:
Goals
- Leave fat as "realistic" as it is, but make it useful
- Probably make the game harder overall lol
- Add interesting gameplay rather than being a nuisance
- Easily get rotten flesh without needing to kill zombies
- Food will spoil
Food Will Spoil!
- Some ingredients also spoil
- Different spoiling times per food type (for example, raw meat spoils faster than cookies)
- Food spoiling is easily visible
- Some downsides to almost spoiled food
- A certain new Potion effect! (P.S. has more use-cases than you'd think)
- Of course some non-spoiling lategame items!
What about the animals?
- Non-natural animals age and can die of old age
- Old animals are special (besides look), with different stats (for automation purposes)
- No "Breeding Farms" a la Valheim. They lose immortality once they produced offspring
- Animals won't age in the end though
What about the plants?
- Plants will decay
- Not the natural/village ones of course, else good luck getting these carrots from 2k blocks away (to prevent "letting crops stay until needed" strategy)
- Only get "animal food" out of decayed ones, no seeds
- What about seeds? Seeds will also decay. Because of course they will! :)
Prevention of food spoilage
- Freezers! With some mechanics and automatable! Of course require some cold stuff to function
- Cold stuff is good at cooling food of course
- Food preparation can go a long way!
